2 Tsp.Of baking powder.

½ Tsp.Of salt.

1 Cup.Of whole milk.

¼ Cup.Of vegetable oil.

2 quarts.Of warm water.

3 chicken bouillon cubes.

THE SAUCE INGREDIENTS:

3 Tbsp.Of butter.

1 Tsp.Of salt.

¼ Cup.Of all-purpose flour.

½ Tsp.Of sugar.

1 Cup.Of buttermilk or whole milk.

2 chicken bouillon cubes; crumbled.

About ¾ Cup.Of dumpling cooking liquid.

DIRECTIONS:

THE DUMPLINGS PREPARATION:

1st Step

Blend together the flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and oil. Transfer the mixture to a surface dusted with flour. Four or five times knead the dough.

2nd Step

Separate the dough into halves. One portion of the dough is rolled to a thickness of 1/8 inch. Cut the dough into 1-by-1.5-inch squares.

3rd Step

Combine the water and bouillon cubes in a large kettle. And boil the bouillon cubes until they dissolve.

4th Step

Prepare half of the dumplings until they are nearly done. When dumplings rise to the top of the saucepan, they are done.

5th Step

Using a strainer, transfer the ingredients to a receptacle and set aside. Complete the remaining half of the dumplings in the same manner. Reserve the liquid from cooking.

FOR MAKING THE SAUCE, FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

1st Step

While the dumplings are simmering, the sauce can be prepared. Butter is melted in a medium saucepan.

2nd Step

Add salt and flour. Mix until thickened. Combine the sugar and milk. Then, gradually add the milk to the flour mixture while whisking constantly until the mixture is viscous and homogeneous.

3rd Step

Take the sauce off the stove. Then incorporate the prepared morsels. And dissolve the bouillon granules in the remaining cooking liquid.

4th Step

Mix the bouillon with the sauce and morsel. Stir with care to combine. Return the dumplings to a simmer over low heat. If the sauce appears too viscous, incorporate a small amount of additional simmering liquid.
